Is it better to call state or DC offices?
There is no hard-and-fast rule: It’s better to call offices where people pick up the phones. We generally tend to route people first to the offices in the district, and then to the DC offices.
What if I live in a blue state and my senators already support my position?
They will still want to hear from you! It’s important for you to show even senators you agree with that you support their positions—and that you’re paying attention. Politicians are more willing to take risky stands when they know their constituents are behind them.
Can you give people who live in blue states an alternate action?
Unfortunately, I am not set up to do that at this time. Right now I am running this pretty much on my own, and I can’t offer much customization. You can always come to this Facebook page and view our pinned post of the day, where I offer alternative phone numbers to call for every issue. If you think your senators and members of Congress are already on board with your positions, you can pick and choose alternative politicians to call.
What if I live in DC and don’t have a Member of Congress or Senator?
If it’s about an education issue, we will route you to chair of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions committee; if it’s an intelligence issue, we’ll route you to the chair of the Foreign Relations committee. Wherever you live, you can still make calls.
The voicemail boxes are always full. What do I do?
We often run into this problem with callers from high-population states. The best advice I can give, beyond calling back in a few hours (which I know not all of you have time to do), is to come to this Facebook page and call some of the alternate numbers I’ve offered—committee heads and whatnot. Don’t give up!
What if I miss an action?
If you miss an action, you can scroll down on our Facebook page to read up on the issues. I switch the hotline number over every morning at dawn, so you will have to dial the numbers yourself if you’re making the calls on later days, but you will always find the relevant actions on our Facebook page. You will just have to dial your representatives directly—a good excuse to program their numbers into your phone!
I would like to donate to Daily Action, but I don’t want to use a credit card. Can I mail a check and, if so, to whom and where?
Thanks so much for helping us out! You can send it to Creative Majority PAC, 1730 Rhode Island Ave NW, Suite 310, Washington DC 20036
Can I use this technology for my local cause?
Yes, you can. I use Revolution Messaging’s Revere Calling platform. I am not a very tech-savvy person and find it very to use.
How do I get in touch with you?
The easiest way is to write Tony at firstname.lastname@example.org. We also monitor our Facebook inbox and text-message replies, but good old-fashioned email is usually the most direct route.
